Iranian Army’s commander-in-chief has stressed that the country’s defense capabilities have strengthened its deterrence, forcing its enemies to change their calculations.
Major General Amir Hatami made the remarks in a message to the acting Defense Minister, Brigadier General Seyyed Majid Ibn Reza, on the eve of the National Defense Industry Day, marked on the 31st of the Persian calendar month of Mordad, which falls on Saturday this year.
Referring to the country’s defense capabilities domestically developed by Iranian scientists and specialists, Hatami said, “The Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics has played an effective role in strengthening the deterrence and defense capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past years by designing, manufacturing, and upgrading a wide range of defense equipment and systems required by the armed forces.”
He noted that a significant part of these achievements has proved its efficiency on the battlefield during recent wars, and “became a symbol of the power and capacity of the country’s indigenous defense industry in the eyes of the world”.
“Even in the recent challenging times, the connection between the combat capabilities of the armed forces and unparalleled capacities of the country’s defense industry demonstrated a clear manifestation of the national power of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and forced its adversaries to change their calculations in the face of the Iranian people’s resilience and defensive power, and ultimately accept an understanding and a political solution.”
The army chief said close cooperation between the Iranian army and the Defense Ministry will continue with the aim of meeting the country’s needs, upgrading equipment, transferring experience, and utilizing the country’s scientific and industrial capacities.
He paid tribute to martyred personnel of the Defense Ministry, stressing that Iran “will never surrender.”
“A nation that builds a defensive shield through the capable hands of its own children, and uses it to preserve its dignity and independence, relying on the eternal power of God, will never surrender, and will undoubtedly emerge victorious,” he added.
The US and Israel launched another round of aggression against Iran on February 28, some eight months after carrying out unprovoked attacks on the country.
Iran swiftly retaliated by launching barrages of missiles and drones at the Israeli-occupied territories, as well as US bases and interests across the region.
A ceasefire took effect on April 7, and on June 18, the presidents of Iran and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to end the war and begin a 60-day diplomatic process to resolve the differences.
However, renewed US strikes a few weeks after signing the MoU, once again triggering Iranian retaliation.
