Resistance stands firm as Iran’s regional deterrence strengthens: Hezbollah

A senior Hezbollah politician and Lebanese lawmaker says Iran’s recent military response has demonstrated its ability to deter US-Israeli aggression, stressing that the resistance remains steadfast in confronting Israeli actions and supporting the Palestinian cause.

Speaking at a memorial ceremony in southern Lebanon, Hussein Hajj Hassan, a senior member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc in the Lebanese Parliament, said recent developments had underscored Iran’s ability to respond to acts of aggression by the United States and Israel.

The Hezbollah lawmaker pointed to Iran’s retaliatory strikes on US bases in the region and Israeli positions, saying the attacks demonstrated Tehran’s capacity to retaliate and impose significant costs on its adversaries.

Hajj Hassan also underscored the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, warning that any large-scale confrontation with Iran could have far-reaching consequences for regional stability, the global economy and international oil markets.

He said the United States would face significant risks if it launched another full-scale war of aggression against Iran, given Tehran’s ability to target US interests and military infrastructure across the region.

Hajj Hassan further described Iran as a key force opposing the US-Israeli agenda in the region, saying Tehran had demonstrated growing cohesion among its government, state institutions, armed forces, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the wider population.

Addressing questions about Hezbollah’s response to continued Israeli aggression, Hajj Hassan said the resistance remained “steadfast, resilient and unwavering,” while emphasizing Iran’s role as a key ally.

He said the current period required faith, patience and confidence in the resistance’s capabilities, stressing that its resolve would not be broken despite the challenges and sacrifices ahead.

The Lebanese lawmaker also addressed Lebanon’s internal situation, calling on the government to assume its national responsibilities towards displaced people and the reconstruction of areas affected by Israeli aggression. He said Hezbollah would continue to fulfill its obligations towards those affected.

Turning to Lebanon’s political situation, Hajj Hassan sharply criticized the government’s approach to direct negotiations with Israel, saying the process had yielded no meaningful gains for Lebanon while Israeli attacks continued.

Hajj Hassan questioned claims surrounding Israeli withdrawals from Lebanese territory, arguing that references to “test areas” did not constitute genuine liberation of occupied land.

He called for a clear assessment of the government’s diplomatic efforts, saying the continuation of Israeli attacks raised serious questions about the effectiveness of the negotiations.

The lawmaker also criticized the international community’s double standards towards Israeli actions, particularly over civilian casualties. He said that some Lebanese media outlets were amplifying Israeli narratives instead of drawing attention to the suffering of victims and their families.

Hajj Hassan said true sovereignty is demonstrated through resistance to foreign interference and aggression.

He reiterated that Palestine remains central to the resistance’s confrontation with Israel, rejecting any suggestion that the Palestinian cause could be abandoned. He described the Palestinian issue as extending beyond the question of territory, framing it as part of a broader regional struggle against Israeli and US policies.
