Hyderabad: Famous Indian martial artist Grandmaster Hanshi Shaswat Kumar, who is also known in the world martial arts community as a “Pioneer of Modern Combat Karate,” has achieved his 8th world record by holding a 100-kg dumbbell with one hand continuously for one minute.
The record attempt was performed live and witnessed by two eyewitnesses.
According to the certificate issued by the Asian Book of World Records, the achievement was recognised as a world record. According to information provided by Kumar, he is the only martial artist in the world known to have accomplished both a 100-Man Kumite and a 100-kg one-hand dumbbell world-record feat. He describes this combination as something that had never previously been accomplished by a martial artist in world martial arts history.
Kumar is also the founder of Senkoukai Karate, an Indian karate style developed with a strong emphasis on practical combat and self-defence. According to Kumar, he has developed Senkoukai Karate with the aim of making it one of the world’s most effective karate systems for practical self-defence, incorporating combat-oriented training and real-world defensive applications.
Hanshi Shaswat Kumar is also described as a “Pioneer of Modern Combat Karate” in the world martial arts community, reflecting his work and contribution towards developing and promoting modern combat-oriented karate.
An important part of Kumar’s journey has also been the support of his childhood friend, Jitendra Khatua from Bhubaneswar, Odisha. According to Kumar, Khatua stood by him throughout his journey and strongly believed that he could accomplish such challenging feats. His encouragement helped Kumar build confidence, courage and determination to pursue his goals.
