Hyderabad: Telugu actor Nidhi Agarwal appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials here on Wednesday in connection with a money laundering probe linked to the promotion of betting applications.
The actor was earlier issued a notice by the ED following allegations that she had received payments through hawala channels for promoting betting apps. However, reportedly due to her prior work commitments, she sought more time from the ED authorities to appear.
She appeared before the agency to record her statement and answer questions related to the alleged transactions.
The ED had earlier registered a case against 21 celebrities over their alleged involvement in promoting betting applications.
The agency has already questioned several celebrities as part of its ongoing investigation into the financial transactions linked to the promotions.
The probe is examining the source and flow of funds allegedly paid to celebrities for endorsing betting platforms.
