Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics has affirmed its unwavering commitment to advancing the defense industry, saying the strategic legacy of the martyred Leader will continue to guide the sector with renewed strength in the face of emerging threats.
In a statement released on the eve of National Defense Industry Day (August 22), the ministry marked the occasion of the 40th day since the historic funeral and burial of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The ministry said this convergence of dates serves as a profound reminder of the heavy responsibility the nation bears to preserve and expand upon his invaluable legacy.
“During his years of leadership and guidance, the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution always paid special attention to strengthening the national defense capabilities, fostering self-reliance, and advancing the defense industry,” the statement read.
The Defense Ministry highlighted that the Leader consistently championed trust in Iranian youth, scientists, and experts, urging the nation to overcome foreign dependency in meeting its defense requirements.
A significant portion of Iran’s defense industry progress was achieved under his direct guidance and support, forging a path that began with self-belief and culminated in the creation of extensive scientific, technological, and industrial capacities across the country.
The Defense Ministry said the path charted by the martyred Leader for building the national defensive power must be pursued with even greater determination.
“As we approach Defense Industry Day, commemorating the 40th day of the martyred Leader’s passing reminds us of our duty toward this precious legacy.”
“We must continue the path he outlined for building the national defense power with strength, making it more advanced and robust in proportion to new needs and emerging threats.”
Marty Khamenei guided the Islamic Republic for 36 years. The United States and Israel assassinated him in airstrikes on his residence in Tehran on February 28, 2026.
The martyrdom prompted the government to declare 40 days of public mourning in accordance with Shia Islamic tradition.
His historic funeral processions in Iran drew unprecedented millions of mourners from all walks of life, culminating in a deeply emotional and unifying burial ceremony that underscored the nation’s steadfast resolve.
