BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticised the Congress government over the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, power outages and alleged failures in welfare and development. He recalled the BRS government’s achievements and said his party would return to power.

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao came down heavily on the Congress government for failing to file a counter-affidavit on the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme and extend its benefits to the poor and needy.
“Does this government not even have the time to file a counter-affidavit for the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme? A person who opposed the Telangana movement has become the Chief Minister. What vision could he possibly have for the development of Telangana?” Rama Rao asked at the Independence Day celebrations at Telangana Bhavan here on Saturday.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy claims to be working 18 hours a day. “Is it to elevate his brothers to the level of Adani?” he asked.
There was no reliable electricity during the Congress’s 60-year rule. After the BRS government came to power in 2014, the farming community was provided quality and uninterrupted power. Now, people in Hyderabad were facing power outages, he said.
Irked by the Congress government’s failure to ensure welfare and development, people from villages to cities were recalling BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao’s administration, he said. Those lacking wisdom claim that Telangana has gone bankrupt, he added.
He called upon party leaders to step up party activities in the districts and organise programmes every day. “Let us protect our party workers with the utmost care,” he stressed.
The BRS working president recalled the challenges faced by the TRS during its initial days. There was a time when people were afraid to rent out buildings for the TRS office. “Our journey began at Jaladrushyam, the premises provided by Konda Laxman Bapuji,” he said.
It had been exactly 20 years since the party headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, was built. The magnificent structure was created based on the BRS chief’s vision, with the aim of constantly inspiring the Telangana movement and the people, he said.
“BRS will return to power, and Telangana will get back on track. Let us all rededicate ourselves to nation-building,” Rama Rao said.
Extending his wishes to the people on the 80th Independence Day, the BRS working president said that even after eight decades, the development envisioned by the freedom fighters had not materialised.
It was distressing that many villages in the country still lacked basic amenities such as roads, electricity, water and schools. Farmers continued to struggle with irrigation water issues, he said.
Those governing at the Centre were disrespecting the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, he alleged. The BRS chief had aspired for irrigation water to reach every acre of land in India. Although 70,000 TMC of water was available in the country, those in power had failed to utilise it effectively, he said.
People had witnessed the tremendous progress China had achieved in just 40 years. India possessed greater resources than China, but the problem persisted because those in power lacked a proper understanding of the country, he said. They misled people by making comparisons with nations that were weaker. “We are not in a better position than Sri Lanka,” he said.
The Centre speaks of a double-engine government. Under BRS rule, Telangana, a single-engine State, had surged ahead faster than others, he added.
