The Gaza Strip’s ministry of health says more than 5,400 Palestinians have been killed or wounded in the besieged coastal sliver since the launch of the US-backed so-called “peace plan” and ceasefire process in October 2025.
In its daily statistical report on Tuesday, the ministry said 1,259 Palestinians had been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since US President Donald Trump launched the plan last year. A further 4,146 Palestinians have been wounded, bringing the total number of casualties to 5,405.
The Israeli regime has continued carrying out attacks in Gaza since the plan was launched, while also maintaining restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid.
Hebrew media reported this week that the regime had informed Washington that it would not halt strikes on the territory.
The developments come amid continuing disagreements over the administration of Gaza under the US-sponsored agreement.
In early July, Gaza’s Hamas resistance movement announced the dissolution of the resistance-led governing body that had administered the territory for nearly two decades. The move was carried out in accordance with provisions of the US-sponsored agreement.
Hamas has subsequently said it was prepared to transfer authority to a technocratic body.
However, the regime has prevented the body from entering Gaza to begin its duties.
Following the implementation of the October 2025 agreement, the regime established what it called the “Yellow Line” inside Gaza.
Under the ceasefire arrangement, the line was intended to serve as an initial perimeter to which Israeli forces would withdraw.
The Israeli position and actions have instead included continued military operations and an expansion of its presence beyond the Yellow Line. Israeli forces have also established permanent outposts around the line.
New satellite imagery indicates that Tel Aviv is building a large barrier in Gaza that would effectively partition parts of the besieged territory.
Meanwhile, the amount of humanitarian aid entering Gaza remains critically low.
