Medak: The urea shortage issue came back to haunt farmers in Medak as they waited in queues for long hours at fertiliser shops and primary agriculture cooperative societies on Wednesday. A video of an elderly farmer pleading with a PACS staff member by touching his feet went viral on social media.
The farmer was seen repeatedly pleading with him to issue two bags of urea as he could not book them online. The incident happened at the PACS Centre in Rangampet in Kulcharam mandal. However, the farmer was forced to leave the place empty-handed due to lack of stocks.
A team of farmers staged a rasta-roko at Polampally in Chegunta over the shortage of urea supply. The farmers also demanded that the government make urea sales manual as they could not access the mobile application. It is not only these two incidents; such incidents have been repeatedly reported across the erstwhile Medak district.
These incidents exposed the Congress government’s failure to make sufficient stocks available at fertiliser shops even two months after the Vanakalam season commenced.
