Trump’s relationship with Netanyahu keeps him obliged to ignore intl. law: Analyst

Greg Simons, Professor of Journalism at Daffodil International University in Dhaka, says the United States has long shielded war criminals for its own interests, arguing that under Donald Trump, such disregard for international law has become far more overt.

He says Trump is not acting as a free agent, adding that his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made him increasingly willing to ignore international law, morality and ethics.

Simons also warns that the failure of other countries to hold Washington accountable bears worrying similarities to the 1930s, when the failure to challenge aggressors contributed to the collapse of international law and order.

He says accountability is urgently needed, but is currently absent, warning that international law and decency in global relations are at risk of further erosion.
