US Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has delivered a scathing indictment of President Donald Trump’s reckless and unauthorized military offensive against the Islamic Republic of Iran, calling it an illegal war that is being lost and endangering American lives while inflating costs for ordinary people.
“Donald Trump got us into an illegal war, is losing his illegal war, and has no way out of his illegal war,” Schumer posted on X on Monday.
“His lack of strategy, discipline, and any ability to seriously negotiate is endangering our troops and raising prices for everyday Americans. Trump’s leadership is a complete and total failure. We must end this war and begin to repair the damage he has wrought,” he added.

The remarks come as the Trump administration continues its failed war of aggression, launched without congressional approval earlier this year in coordination with the Israeli regime.
Despite months of airstrikes and threats, the Islamic Republic has steadfastly defended its sovereignty and territorial integrity, with Iranian resistance forces continuing to inflict costs on the aggressors.
Reports indicate Trump is struggling to find an exit as US weapons stockpiles dwindle and American public opposition mounts, with gas prices soaring and troop casualties mounting, facts even US lawmakers can no longer ignore.
Schumer’s criticism highlights the strategic bankruptcy of Washington’s approach. No clear objectives, shifting justifications, and zero ability to negotiate from a position of strength against a resilient Iran that has refused to submit to imperial pressure.
Iranian officials have repeatedly affirmed that Tehran will never yield to coercion and that any resolution requires an immediate end to the illegal aggression and full respect for Iran’s rights.
Senator Hollen calls for resignation of US ambassador to Israel
In a parallel condemnation of Washington’s unwavering support for Zionist expansionism, Senator Chris Van Hollen has called for the resignation of Mike Huckabee, the US ambassador to the Israeli regime, accusing him of abandoning American citizens and interests to serve as a mouthpiece for Tel Aviv’s extremist policies.
“A US ambassador’s job is to protect & defend the citizens & interests of the United States. @USAmbIsrael Mike Huckabee has failed to do so,” Van Hollen wrote on X. “As violence consumes the West Bank & extremists call for a Greater Israel, he’s become a mouthpiece for the Israeli govt. He should resign.”
Huckabee, a longtime Christian Zionist advocate of Israeli settlement expansion, has drawn sharp rebuke for remaining silent, or actively enabling, as settler violence intensifies across the occupied West Bank, with Palestinian communities facing daily attacks, land theft, and displacement under the banner of a so-called “Greater Israel.”
American citizens in the region have also suffered amid the impunity granted to extremists, yet the ambassador has prioritized echoing the Israeli regime’s narrative over defending US interests or basic human rights.
The Islamic Republic’s steadfast defense and the unyielding Palestinian struggle continue to expose the limits of US-Israeli aggression, as even voices within the American establishment are forced to confront the failure. As the illegal war drags on without strategy or endgame, calls are growing for an immediate end to the aggression against Iran.
