Telangana has recorded 406.5 mm of cumulative rainfall since June 1 against the normal 430.3 mm, a 6 per cent deficit. Nineteen districts remain in the normal category, while two have received excess rainfall and 12 face deficits.

Hyderabad: As the southwest monsoon progresses through August, Telangana’s cumulative rainfall from June 1 to Monday, August 10 stands at 406.5 mm against the normal benchmark of 430.3 mm, at a 6 percent deficit, placing it in the normal rainfall category, rainfall data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) said.
The TGDPS data indicated that at present, out of 33 districts, 19 districts are in normal rainfall category while two districts including Kamareddy and Medak are in the excess category.
Meanwhile, 12 districts, including Hanumakonda, Warangal, and Jangaon, are experiencing a deficit ranging between 20 percent and 59 percent.
Within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and surrounding urban regions, cumulative rainfall has reached 302.2 mm compared to the normal average of 338.1 mm, which is 11 percent deficit.
Barring Medchal-Malkajgiri district, which received 234.7 mm of rainfall so far against the normal of 331 mm of rainfall with 39 percent deficit rainfall, the rest of the districts including Rangareddy, Sangareddy and Vikarabad are in the normal category, the TSDPS rainfall data said.
