Hyderabad: A 27-year-old man from Banjara Hills allegedly lost Rs 99,018 from his bank account after a software update was automatically installed while he was watching Instagram Reels on his phone.
The victim, a resident near Orange Tree in Banjara Hills, told the police that the incident occurred on the night of August 2. When he checked his bank account the next morning, he found that a total of Rs 99,018 had been transferred through four transactions without his knowledge.
Based on his complaint, the Banjara Hills police registered a case and took up an investigation into the suspected cyber fraud.
