Hyderabad: Newlywed woman dies by suicide; family alleges harassment by in-laws

A 27-year-old newlywed woman allegedly died by suicide at her matrimonial home in Hyderabad’s Tolichowki. Her family has accused her in-laws of harassment and sought a thorough investigation. Police have registered a case and are awaiting the postmortem report.

Hyderabad: A 27-year-old newlywed woman died by suicide by hanging at her matrimonial home at SA Colony in Tolichowk on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Samiha Wajahat (27).


Her family has alleged that she was subjected to harassment by her in-laws and claimed that the alleged abuse led to her death.

They lodged a formal complaint with the Tolichowk police, seeking a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Upon receiving information, Tolichowk police, along with the Clues Team, visited the house and collected forensic evidence from the scene.

Police have registered a case based on the family’s complaint and are investigating all possible angles, including the allegations of harassment.

Further action will be taken after the autopsy report and the findings of the ongoing investigation, they said.
