Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao praised Hyderabad-origin Rahmath Pasha for displaying exceptional courage during the tragic incident in Australia’s Bondi area and playing a key role in saving around 20 lives. He said the Australian government granting permanent residency to Pasha in recognition of his bravery was a matter of pride for Indians, particularly the Telugu community.
Pasha was dropping a passenger near Bondi Beach when he heard loud sounds, initially mistaking them for fireworks. On noticing the attacker, he got out of his vehicle and stayed back to help more than 20 injured people reach safety even as many others fled in panic.
The Australian government has also nominated Pasha for a Bravery Award, while the ride-sharing company he worked for recognised his service.
Pasha called on Rama Rao at the latter’s residence here on Tuesday, where the BRS working president said Pasha’s selfless actions had brought recognition to the Telugu community worldwide and could inspire young people to serve society. He described Pasha’s actions as an outstanding example of humanity and courage.
BRS NRI global coordinator Mahesh Bigala, former MLA Methuku Anand and others felicitated Pasha on the occasion.
