A 32-year-old chartered accountant from Siddipet district reportedly died by suicide in a hotel after allegedly struggling with online betting addiction. Police recovered a suicide note and said he had purchased a helium cylinder before the incident. Investigation is underway

Charted Accountant commits suicide by inhaling helium gas in Siddipet Haritha Hotel

Siddipet: A chartered accountant who was allegedly addicted to online betting and had lost a huge amount of money died by suicide after reportedly inhaling helium gas. Santosh Kumar (32), a native of Siddipet district, checked into Haritha Hotel near Siddipet town on August 1.

As he did not open his room until Tuesday and the door remained locked from inside, the hotel management informed the Siddipet III Town police. The police broke open the window glass and entered the room.


ACP Siddipet Ravindar Reddy said the deceased had left behind a suicide note. Unable to overcome his online betting addiction, Santosh wrote that he had decided to end his life. According to the police, his family had extended financial support to him on several occasions. However, he could not overcome the addiction.

During the inquiry, the police found that Santosh had purchased a helium gas cylinder in Balanagar after watching videos about the suicide method on YouTube. He reportedly began inhaling the gas after covering his face with a plastic cover on the evening of August 1 and died in the early hours of the following day.

Santosh’s wife is reportedly pregnant. The police registered a case and further investigation is on.
