Lebanese MP: Israel’s dream of Hezbollah disarmament won’t ever come true

A Lebanese lawmaker from Hezbollah’s political wing has categorically dismissed the idea of disarming the resistance movement, saying the Tel Aviv regime’s dream of taking weapons away from the group will never be achieved.

Hussein Hajj Hassan, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, stated on Monday that the munitions are solely dedicated to confronting Israeli aggression.

Hajj Hassan also highlighted that the US-mediated framework agreement signed by Israel and the Beirut government on June 26 violates the Lebanese constitution.

The constitution stipulates that anyone who establishes a relationship, communicates with, negotiates with, or strengthens the “occupying Zionist entity” at the expense of Lebanon’s interests is in breach of the law, he said.

“The Lebanese government actually committed a crime. The Zionist regime is targeting our army forces” in southern Lebanon, Hajj Hassan added.

He emphasized that the so-called framework agreement does not guarantee prevention of Israeli aggression, and that the Zionist regime continues to abduct and murder Lebanese nationals despite negotiations with the Beirut government.

Hajj Hassan stated that Israel’s critical condition for the cessation of attacks on southern Lebanon is the disarmament of Hezbollah.

“We must clarify that such a dream will never come true. The Israeli military and those parties which continue to make threats should come to realize that they won’t ever manage to disarm Hezbollah. Rest assured, we will not hand over our weapons,” the Lebanese lawmaker pointed out.

Hajj Hassan described as “stillborn” the framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel, stressing that Israel killed the deal.

According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, Israel’s ongoing assaults in Lebanon since March 2 have claimed the lives of at least 4,333 people and left 12,236 others wounded.

During the current offensive, Israeli forces have advanced more than 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) into Lebanese territory.

Iran’s military might prevented US attacks

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hajj Hassan noted that Iran’s resilience and steadfastness, and the fact that Iran can respond to any act of aggression and target US military assets across West Asia, prevented American attacks.

“Iran will stand firm, resist, and negotiate from a position of authority, power, sovereignty, and dignity. Iran has always raised Lebanon as one of its main priorities in the course of negotiations with the United States,” he stated.
