Several Palestinians were injured and homes, vehicles, and infrastructure were damaged after extremist Israeli settlers carried out a series of attacks overnight and on Sunday morning across multiple areas of the occupied West Bank.
Palestinian media, quoting local sources, reported on Sunday that the attacks, which were carried out under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, targeted communities in Ramallah, Nablus, al-Khalil, and Jenin.
In the Ramallah area, settlers attacked the al-Zarqa neighborhood of Beitillu town, northwest of the city, assaulting Issam Radwan and his wife while they worked on their farm. Radwan sustained bruises to his leg, while his wife suffered a broken arm and a head injury. Settlers also assaulted Palestinian youths in the nearby town of Deir Ammar.
In Madama village, south of Nablus, settlers vandalized public infrastructure by cutting down electricity poles and damaging the power grid. In nearby Duma, they staged provocative marches near Palestinian homes and reportedly tried to set fire to a house while assaulting its residents.
In the town of Surif, northwest of al-Khalil, settlers attacked a Palestinian home, terrorized its residents, burned a vehicle, and spray-painted hostile graffiti as part of repeated assaults on the area. Elsewhere in Masafer Yatta, settlers stormed a Palestinian home in the hamlet of Khirbet Umm al-Khair.
In Jenin governorate, settlers entered and held a rally in the plains of Arabbuna village, northeast of the city.
Separately, on Saturday evening, settlers attacked three Palestinian youths on the road between the villages of al-Mughayir and Abu Falah, northeast of Ramallah. According to a local official, the settlers first rammed the victims’ vehicle with a quad bike, causing damage, then beat the three passengers and sprayed them with pepper spray, leaving them injured.
An Israeli lawyer has called for the killing of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank if they refuse to live under Israeli rule or leave the territory. Yehuda Shimon made the remarks in a BBC interview published on Saturday from the Havat Gilad settlement outpost in the northern occupied West Bank. Shimon, a lawyer linked to an organization that represents Israelis arrested for violence against Palestinians, defended attacks on Palestinian villages as acts of retaliation.
According to the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, illegal settlers carried out 3,488 acts of aggression in the West Bank in the first half of this year, resulting in the deaths of 17 Palestinians.
Since October 2023, the occupied West Bank has seen a sharp rise in Israeli military offensives and settler assaults. Official Palestinian figures show that at least 1,179 Palestinians have been killed, 12,666 injured, and around 24,000 abducted.
