First meeting held on Telangana Hate Speech Prevention Bill

Speaker G Prasad Kumar emphasised impartial review, while the committee resolved to frame recommendations after detailed deliberations and submit its report promptly.

First meeting held on Telangana Hate Speech Prevention Bill

Hyderabad: The Select Committee constituted to examine the Telangana Hate Speech and Hate Crimes (Prevention) Bill, 2026, held its first meeting at Speaker G Prasad Kumar’s chamber here on Saturday.

Addressing the meeting, the Speaker said the House had entrusted the committee with the responsibility of conducting a comprehensive review of the proposed legislation and submitting its recommendations to the Assembly. He expressed confidence that the committee would examine the Bill impartially through detailed deliberations.


The meeting was chaired by Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who said the committee would frame recommendations that would benefit society and serve as a guide for future generations.

The Minister added that all recommendations would be finalised after detailed discussions among the members. He also said the committee would meet regularly and submit its report to the Speaker at the earliest.
