Ballia (UP): A 20-year-old man has been detained for allegedly circulating an obscene video of a 15-year-old girl here, police said on Saturday. A case was registered on Friday at the Maniyar police station based on a complaint filed by the girl’s mother against the accused, Zahid, they said. According to the complaint, Zahid allegedly lured the Class 6 student into a video call, recorded an obscene video of her and threatened her over marriage before circulating the clip.
The complainant alleged that the video later went viral, leaving the teenager depressed. The police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology (Amendment) Act. SHO Ajay Kumar Tripathi said the accused has been detained and is being interrogated.
