Continuous rains in Mulugu and Bhupalpally districts have triggered floods, leaving a car driver missing in Jampannavagu, disrupting coal production at Singareni mines, and causing heavy inflows into Medigadda Barrage and Sammakka Sagar Project. Roads and transport links have been washed away, prompting officials to issue flood alerts.

Mulugu/Bhupalpally: A car driver went missing in Jampannavagu in Mulugu; vehicular traffic and coal production were disrupted in Bhupalpally while Medigadda received heavy inflows due to continuous rains for the past couple of days.
The 40-year-old car driver Timmaiah of Kondamadugu village in Ghatkesar mandal of Medchal district was hired by a group of devotees to visit Medaram. He stepped into Jampannavagu to take a bath before having darshan of the deities, but was swept away by the current and went missing.
The locals attempted to rescue him, but their efforts were unsuccessful and they immediately alerted the police. The police launched a search operation to trace him with the help of locals.
Meanwhile, there has been heavy flood inflow into Sammakka Sagar Project, the current inflow is 237,300 cusecs and outflow is 234,994 cusecs. The officials are pumping 2,306 cusecs of water using nine motors at Devadula.
Officials have advised fishermen not to venture out for fishing and residents in the river basin areas to avoid entering the Godavari River due to the rising floodwaters. The water level in Laknavaram Lake in Govindaraopet mandal has reached 20.10 feet due to the incessant rainfall.
In Bhupalpally district coal production has been disrupted at the Kakatiya Opencast 2 and 3 mines due to massive accumulation of rainwater caused by incessant rainfall over the past two days. Singareni officials said that coal extraction machinery got stuck in the mud resulting in a disruption to the production of 16,000 tonnes of coal.
Floodwaters are surging into Medigadda Barrage at Ambatipalli village of Mahadevpur mandal in the district. On Thursday, with an inflow of 81,060 cusecs, irrigation department officials lifted 85 gates to release an equal volume of water downstream.
Officials have advised residents of low-lying villages to remain alert, as the inflow of floodwaters into the barrage is expected to rise further due to incessant rains over the past three days.
A road connecting Garimellapalli in Tekumatla mandal and Odedu in Mutharam mandal has been washed away by the surging floodwaters of a local stream. Transportation between Garimellapalli and Odedu has come to a halt as the stream overflows.
As a result commuters and motorists are facing significant difficulties. Officials have warned the locals against venturing near the area due to the dangerous flow of the streams.
