IMD issues red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in Telangana on Friday

The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in five Telangana districts on Friday. Several other districts, including Hyderabad, are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rain as the monsoon remains active across the State.

IMD issues red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in Telangana on Friday

Hyderabad: A red alert of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for several districts of Telangana for Friday.

According to a weather bulletin, the red alert, usually issued when downpour is expected to cross 204.5 mm or 20.45 cm, has been issued for Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal and Jagtial districts. A heavy-to-very heavy rainfall, ranging between 115.6 mm (11.56 cm) and 204.4 mm or 20.44 cm, has also been issued for Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu and Kamareddy districts.


Heavy rainfall (64.5 mm – 115.5mm ) is also very likely to occur at isolated places in Medak, Sangareddy, Jangaon, Hanumakonda, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Siddipet, Bhadradri Kothagudem districts.
