Tribal woman swept away in flooding stream in Nirmal

A 45-year-old tribal woman drowned while crossing a flooding stream in Ervachintla village, Khanapur mandal, Nirmal district, after collecting her pension. Despite rescue attempts, she was swept away, and police later recovered her body and registered a case.

Tribal woman swept away in flooding stream in Nirmal

Nirmal: A tribal woman was washed away while crossing a flooding stream at Ervachintal village in Khanapur mandal on Wednesday.

Police and locals said that Marsakola Parubai (45), a social security pension beneficiary from Chamanapalli village was swept away in swirling waters of the stream after attempting to cross it. She was returning after receiving the social security pension at a neighboring village when the mishap occurred.


Some locals tried to rescue her, but in vain as she was washed away in the current of the stream. On receiving information, police launched a search for the body. They retrieved the body after some time. Based on a complaint received from a family member, a case has been registered. Investigations have been taken up.
