Hyderabad: The BRS welcomed the Telangana High Court’s direction for the immediate removal of HYDRAA Commissioner KV Ranganath for repeatedly violating its orders and trespassing into private properties. BRS general secretary RS Praveen Kumar termed the order a slap in the face for the Congress government and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Speaking to mediapersons on Monday, Praveen Kumar said HYDRAA, which was constituted through GO 99 soon after the Congress assumed office, had become an instrument to target the homes of the poor. He said the 63 contempt of court cases against the HYDRAA Commissioner reflected the agency’s functioning. He stated that the High Court’s observations on the agency raised serious questions about the current administration.
Alleging selective action, he questioned whether different rules applied to the poor and the Chief Minister’s relatives. He also accused the government of using HYDRAA to further the real estate interests of Congress leaders.
Praveen Kumar said officials must function strictly within the framework of the law and asserted that merely replacing the HYDRAA Commissioner would not change the agency’s functioning unless the government changed its approach.
Reiterating BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s earlier assurance, he said HYDRAA would be disbanded on the first day after a BRS government assumed office. He warned that, upon returning to power, the BRS government would examine every file related to HYDRAA’s activities and take action against officials found guilty of wrongdoing.
