Rights group: Over 1,000 Palestinian children displaced in West Bank this year

The world’s leading independent organization for children has revealed in its latest report that more than 1,000 Palestinian children have been forcibly displaced from their residences in the occupied West Bank this year.

In a statement released on Saturday, Save the Children described the figures as “deeply alarming,” noting that the number of children displaced since January represents roughly half the total number forced from their homes by settler violence during the previous three years.

The international organization added that approximately 2,000 Palestinian children were forced to leave their homes from January 2023 to December 2025. Over 1,000 minors have already been displaced in the initial six months of 2026 alone.

According to Save the Children, the data indicates a notable rise in the number of attacks perpetrated by illegal Israeli settlers throughout the occupied West Bank.

The United Nations reports that settler attacks increased by 45 percent in the first half of 2026 in comparison to the corresponding period last year.

Between January and June of this year, over 1,020 attacks by settlers were documented, in contrast to 757 such incidents reported during the first half of 2025.

Humanitarian organizations have consistently cautioned that assaults by Israeli settlers — targeting residences, agricultural areas, livestock, and Palestinian communities — have escalated in conjunction with the increasing settlement activities throughout the occupied territory.

The report additionally cited findings from the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry (COI), which was established by the Human Rights Council in May 2021.

The commission states that settler violence is systematically organized and facilitated by Israeli authorities, creating an environment of impunity.

According to the inquiry, the Israeli regime and its occupation forces are directly responsible for the attacks carried out by settlers, which have caused fatalities, injuries, and the displacement of Palestinians.

The rise in attacks has resulted in an increasing number of injuries among Palestinians.

As per the statistics provided by the UN in the report, around 569 Palestinians have sustained injuries due to Israeli settlers since the start of 2026.

The report contrasts that number with the 832 injuries documented in 2025, 362 in 2024, and 376 in 2023.

Since October 2023, violence in the occupied West Bank has escalated significantly, characterized by Israeli military offensives occurring in tandem with a rise in attacks by Israeli settlers.

According to the official Palestinian figures cited in the report, Israeli occupation forces and illegal settlers have killed 1,181 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since the onset of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

As of July 7, 2026, nearly 13,000 individuals have sustained injuries, and around 24,000 Palestinians have been abducted.
