Andhra Pradesh’s M. Venkatram Reddy selected for World Athletics Championships in Oregon


Andhra Pradesh middle-distance runner M. Venkatram Reddy has been selected to represent India at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon. Athletics officials hailed the SAF Games and Asian Under-20 champion as one of India’s promising medal contenders at the global event.

Andhra Pradesh’s M. Venkatram Reddy selected for World Athletics Championships in Oregon

Hyderabad: Middle-distance runner M. Venkatram Reddy of Andhra Pradesh has been selected to represent India in the World Athletics championship to be held in Oregon (USA) from July 25 to August 10.

Mr. M. Narayana Rao, chairman of Andhra Pradesh Athletics Association selection committee, informed on Thursday that Venkatram, who won gold in the SAF Games and the Asian Athletics under-20 championship, was tipped to be one of the strong contenders for medals at the highest level from India.


“We, the APAA, congratulate Venkatram and wish he would come back with laurels,” he said in a joint statement signed by D. Nageswara Rao, president of VDAA, Mr A.V. Raghavendra Rao, joint secretary of AFI, Mrs A. Hyma, executive committee member of AFI.

SAAP VC & MD Bharani also congratulated Venkatram on his selection.
