In response to US military aggression against southern Iran, which has primarily targeted civilian infrastructure, the Iranian armed forces continued their retaliatory operations on Wednesday.
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), under Operation Nasr-2 (Victory-2), and the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, under Operation Sa’eqeh (Lightning), launched a fresh wave of missile and drone strikes against US military targets across the region on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
The operations mark a new phase in Iran’s military response after the United States failed to honor its commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), derailing diplomatic efforts and triggering a renewed escalation.
They follow Operation True Promise 4, launched after the US-Israeli coalition’s illegal and unprovoked war of aggression against the Islamic Republic that began on February 28 and lasted nearly 40 days.
That campaign comprised more than 100 waves of missile and drone strikes targeting US and Israeli military assets across the West Asian region.
Although a subsequent ceasefire temporarily halted US-Israeli hostilities against the Islamic Republic, Washington’s continued violations of its commitments under the MoU and another wave of attacks on Iranian soil ultimately led to the resumption of military confrontation.
The following is a summary of the operations carried out by the Iranian armed forces on July 21.
IRGC (25th wave of Operation Nasr-2)
- The IRGC announced that its Aerospace Force carried out the 25th wave of Operation Nasr-2 against US military positions in Jordan, responding to continued American aggression.
- The IRGC said the operation was conducted under the code “Ya Hassan ibn Ali (AS)” and was dedicated to the martyrs of the Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab on the day the remains of 32 more students killed in the US terror attack were buried.
- According to the statement, Iranian missile and drone strikes targeted the King Faisal and Prince Hassan bases in Jordan, which host US military assets.
- The IRGC said an F-15 fighter jet preparation hangar was targeted during the initial stage of the operation.
- The statement added that an MQ-9 drone preparation facility was also struck, resulting in the destruction of eight new MQ-9 drones before deployment, while two additional drones sustained heavy damage.
- Iranian forces also targeted a helicopter maintenance facility, where the IRGC said two American heavy helicopters suffered major damage.
- The IRGC stated that a housing facility used by US military personnel was hit, resulting in casualties among American forces.
- The IRGC said the operation was part of its broader objective of imposing costs on the aggressor and preventing Washington from repeating military escalation against Iran.
Iranian Army (20th and 21st phases of Operation Sa’eqeh)
- The Iranian Army announced that, from early Wednesday, Iranian Arash attack drones carried out multiple strikes against the positions and accommodation facilities of US military personnel at the Sheikh Isa base in Bahrain.
- According to the statement, Sheikh Isa Air Base is among the most important facilities supporting the US Fifth Fleet, and serves as a command and operational center for American military activities in the region.
- The Iranian Army said aerial operations and drone control missions of US forces are coordinated from the base, making it a significant node in Washington’s regional military infrastructure.
- In another phase of Operation Sa’eqeh, the Iranian Army announced drone strikes against US military facilities at the Al-Azraq base in Jordan.
- The strikes targeted housing buildings used by US occupation forces, as well as military equipment depots.
- The targets included large equipment warehouses, storage facilities, and maintenance and repair hangars for heavy aircraft.
- The Army said the strikes were aimed at degrading the logistical and operational capacity of US forces stationed in the region.
- In the 21st phase of Operation Sa’eqeh, the Iranian Army targeted key US military infrastructure in Kuwait with a heavy barrage of drones.
- Iranian drones struck the Al-Doha garrison in western Kuwait, targeting ammunition depots and logistical equipment belonging to the US ground forces command center.
- The Iranian Army said the operation targeted infrastructure used for sustaining American military deployments, including equipment storage and logistical support facilities.
- According to the statement, Al-Doha is among the important American military locations in western Kuwait, serving as a support hub for US forces deployed across West Asia.
