Hyderabad: A rowdy sheeter was hacked to death on the road in Meerpet on Monday midnight.

Police suspect the murder was an act of revenge linked to an old homicide case.

According to police, the attack took place near TKR College after the prime suspect, identified as Afroz, allegedly lured the victim Nandanavanam Suri, to the spot on the pretext of attending a friend’s birthday celebration.

Police said Afroz first sprayed pepper spray into Suri’s eyes, leaving him unable to defend himself, before attacking him repeatedly with sharp weapons.

Suri suffered grievous injuries and collapsed in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital by locals where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Officials said the murder appears to be the fallout of a long-standing personal feud. Suri had earlier been named as an accused in the murder of his wife and his brother-in-law Salman.

Police now believe that Afroz, Salman’s brother, had been waiting for an opportunity to avenge the killing and allegedly planned the attack in advance.

Meerpet police have launched a search for Afroz and other suspects believed to have participated in the crime. Forensic evidence has been collected from the crime spot, and the investigation is continuing from all possible angles.

Suri was a rowdy sheeter with several criminal cases against him. Police had also imposed a city externment order against him a few months ago due to his criminal background.
