Five tribals drown in Godavari on AP-Telangana border

Kothagudem: Five tribals, including three women, who went fishing in river Godavari on the Telangana-Andhra Pradesh border on Saturday drowned in the river.

The tribals went missing after accidentally falling into deep waters of the river while fishing near Yetapaka in Polavaram district of Andhra Pradesh. The local police and revenue officials launched search operations and the bodies of five people recovered from Godavari after a prolonged search.


The deceased, Bhasuboyina Balaraju (38), Uke Ramesh (38), Uke Susheela (37), Turram Bharati (40) and Uke Lakshmi (37) were all residents of Gommu Kothagudem village in Yetapaka mandal. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
