Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao flayed the Congress government over its decision to draw 30 million gallons per day (MGD) of drinking water for Hyderabad from the Mallanna Sagar reservoir after terming the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme as useless.
Stating that the move exposed the government’s double standards, Rama Rao said Mallanna Sagar was an integral part of the Kaleshwaram project, which the Congress had consistently criticised. He said that while the government continued to target the project politically, it was relying on the same infrastructure to meet Hyderabad’s drinking water needs amid drought conditions. He added that the people of Telangana understood the government’s contradictory approach.
