The Telangana Congress is grappling with repeated internal disputes, with multiple leaders facing show-cause notices over misconduct and factional clashes. However, past cases suggest disciplinary action is unlikely, raising doubts about the party’s seriousness in addressing infighting.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress has been witnessing frequent internal disputes in recent months. To contain the infighting, the party has issued show-cause notices to several leaders. However, the lack of disciplinary action has raised questions about the party’s seriousness.
On Tuesday, the Indian Youth Congress served a show cause notice on State Youth Congress president Shivcharan Reddy over his conduct towards Yadagirigutta Devasthanam Board Member Eshwaramma Yadav.
Shivcharan Reddy allegedly abused Eshwaramma Yadav and her supporters for not displaying his father Jakkidi Prabhakar Reddy’s photograph on flex banners put up at LB Nagar for her oath-taking ceremony as a board member.
The incident soon took a caste turn, with several BC leaders, including those from the Congress, condemning Shivcharan Reddy’s behaviour. Following the controversy, the Indian Youth Congress sought an explanation from him and asked why disciplinary action should not be initiated.
However, many Telangana Congress leaders remain unconvinced. Citing earlier cases, they believe this issue too will be quietly closed to avoid damaging the party’s image.
On June 13, the TPCC Disciplinary Committee served a show cause notice on Government Advisor and former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir for allegedly violating party discipline. The notice followed the circulation of an alleged audio conversation on social media in which he purportedly accused party leaders of selling positions for money.
At the time, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said the allegations required no immediate attention. He said a notice had been issued and action would follow.
However, after meeting Mohammed Ali Shabbir and Nizamabad Congress leader Chandrashekhar Reddy, the disciplinary committee closed the matter. Shabbir Ali denied the allegations and no action was taken.
In another case, the TPCC appointed former MLA T Jagga Reddy as an observer to resolve the dispute between supporters of Tungaturthy MLA Mandula Samuel and Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy. The clash took place in Suryapet last week over appointments to party mandal units.
AICC Secretary Sachin Sawant was asked to submit a report on the dispute between Forest Minister Konda Surekha and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari. Separately, Congress leaders from the Palakurthy constituency lodged complaints against MLA Yashaswini Reddy over party appointments and other issues.
Despite the party appointing senior leaders and seeking reports in these cases, many workers at Gandhi Bhavan do not expect disciplinary action against any of the leaders involved. They point to previous instances where similar issues ended without any consequences.
“All these measures are eyewash initiatives to contain the differences among leaders,” a senior leader at Gandhi Bhavan said.
