Iran’s Army has launched an eighth round of drone strikes against American targets in the region in response to the United States’ violations against Iranian territory, targeting a Jordanian airbase hosting US troops.
The Public Relations Office of the Iranian Army announced that, following repeated “aggressive attacks” by the United States, the eighth round of “Sa’eqeh (Lightning) Operation” was launched in the early hours of Wednesday with a new wave of drone strikes targeting the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan.
According to the statement, the base was targeted for the second time, with Iranian loitering drones striking the F-18 fighter jet shelters as well as large equipment storage hangars belonging to the US military.
The Iranian Army stated that, relying on the faith, expertise, and readiness of its forces, it will continue to defend the country’s security and territorial integrity with determination and will leave no threat unanswered.
“Our defensive capabilities are not intended to initiate any war; rather, they reflect our unwavering determination and unshakable resolve to safeguard Iran’s independence and territorial integrity,” it added.
The United States has staged numerous unwarranted attacks on Iranian soil, especially areas lying along the country’s southern coastline, amid Washington’s efforts to forcibly enable illegal maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has shut down the waterway in response to the violations, pledging to retain the closure until the US ends the interference.
Iran’s Armed Forces have, meanwhile, retaliated against every instance of the unprovoked aggression by striking sensitive and strategic American targets throughout the region.
On Monday, Army spokesman warned the United States that no measure of American aggression would force the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, following Tehran’s decision to close the strategic waterway over the American violations.
“The aggressive and corrupt president of the United States must learn to respect international law, the rights of nations, and the dignity of peoples. As we have previously stated, the Strait of Hormuz will never be reopened through war, hostility, or acts of aggression by the United States,” Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami-Nia said.
