The spokespersons of Iran’s Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have held a joint meeting to enhance media synergy and reaffirm the armed forces’ unwavering unity, vowing to counter hostile moves to designate the IRGC as a “terrorist” entity.
Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia, the Army spokesman, and Brigadier General Hossein Mohabi, the IRGC spokesman, led the meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, where they discussed common media challenges and strategies to improve coordination.
The meeting saw the Army issue a statement of support for the IRGC against “malicious and hostile actions” by certain countries seeking to label the IRGC as “terrorist”.
Media synergy and unified messaging
The two officials agreed on the importance of accurately and cohesively reflecting the performance of the armed forces during the recent war.
They said the primary message from their meeting is the unity and integrity of all Iranian armed forces around the three pillars of “Islam, revolution, and the country”.
The meeting takes place against the backdrop of the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran, which began on February 28. The initial strikes targeted Iran’s top leadership, including Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Iran’s armed forces responded with 100 waves of retaliatory strikes under Operation True Promise 4 against US bases across the region.
The war, which resulted in the martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, was followed by massive funeral ceremonies in Iran and Iraq, described by authorities as the “funeral of the century”.
Despite a fragile ceasefire and a preliminary deal signed in June, the US has continued its efforts to get allies to designate the IRGC as a “terrorist” organization. The UK recently followed suit, proscribing the IRGC.
