Hyderabad: Following the gruesome killing of six persons, tensions escalated in Shabad, Ranga Reddy district, as relatives of the victims and locals staged a dharna demanding action against police officials and handing over of the suspect to them.

The protesters alleged the police had failed to act despite earlier complaints against the suspect and accused officials of negligence that led to the tragic incident.

The protest took an ugly turn when local MLA Kale Yadaiah arrived at the dharna site to meet the bereaved families. The agitating protesters questioned his delayed response and expressed their anger over the handling of the case.

As emotions ran high, several protesters rushed towards the MLA, raising slogans and confronting him. Police personnel immediately intervened and formed a security cordon around the legislator to prevent any untoward incident.

Amid the escalating tension, the police escorted the MLA away from the protest venue. A heavy police force remained deployed at the protest site to maintain law and order and prevent the situation from deteriorating.
