Hyderabad: The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) took suo motu cognisance of reports on an alleged food poisoning incident at the Project Tribal Welfare Boys Gurukul in Mannanur village of Amrabad mandal, Nagarkurnool district, where 26 to 27 students reportedly fell ill after consuming breakfast. The matter has been posted for further hearing on August 11, 2026.
Acting on news reports published in the Telugu dailies Eenadu and Namaste Telangana on Friday, the Commission directed the Nagarkurnool District Collector to submit a detailed report.
The Commission sought information on the circumstances leading to the incident, the health condition of the affected students, the findings of the inquiry, the analysis of food and water samples, action taken against those responsible, and the measures adopted to prevent similar incidents.
