Hyderabad: The city police and other key civic and highway agencies have stepped up efforts to improve safety on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), with officials identifying nearly 80 accident-prone spots. The teams are now considering the introduction of an AI-based electronic traffic enforcement system to curb violations.
Several key decisions were taken at a coordination meeting held by Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar at the TGiCCC on Friday. Senior officials from HMDA, NHAI, GHMC, IRB Infrastructure and the traffic police of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri reviewed the progress of road safety measures outlined in the previous meeting.
Sajjanar said nearly 99 per cent of traffic violations on the ORR involve repeat offenders, stressing the need for stronger enforcement and public awareness.
He also directed agencies to ensure that breakdown vehicles are quickly shifted to safe locations to prevent accidents and advised motorists to call the helpline number 14449 immediately if their vehicle breaks down on the ORR.
