Police also seized 17.8 grams of marijuana.
During the operation, police intercepted 31 persons who had arrived from different parts of Hyderabad to purchase marijuana. Of them, 29 tested positive for drug consumption, while three were found carrying small packets of the drug weighing about 15 grams.
Officials further identified Kaliwala Ajay alias Akash, a fruit vendor from Fathenagar, and his 78-year-old grandmother, Chandramma, as the main suppliers.
Police said Chandramma allegedly sold five-gram marijuana packets for Rs. 500 each outside her residence, earning substantial profits. Akash was arrested, while Chandramma remains absconding.
Officials said the arrested consumers, most of them around 25 years old, admitted to being addicted to the drug for more than two years.
During questioning, they reportedly revealed that Fathenagar, Nanakramguda and Dhoolpet were among the major supply points for marijuana in the city.
