Sreenidhi University TG20 League playoffs: Hyderabad E-Champions face Khammam Aces in Qualifier 1; Ranga Reddy plays Karimnagar in Eliminator

The playoffs of the inaugural Sreenidhi University TG20 League begin on Thursday, July 9, with the Eliminator between Ranga Reddy Risers and EIPL & Eleve Karimnagar Diamonds. Later in the evening, unbeaten Hyderabad E-Champions will face Anvita Khammam Aces in Qualifier 1 at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here.

The winner of Qualifier 1 will secure a direct place in Sunday’s final, while the loser will get another opportunity in Qualifier 2 on Friday, July 10, against the winner of the Eliminator. The grand finale will be played on Sunday, July 12, when the inaugural champions will be crowned.


Eliminator

Momentum seems to be with Risers, having found themselves on the brink of elimination heading into the final league fixture, Risers produced one of the greatest performances of the tournament, defeating Warangal Warriors by 161 runs to complete a stunning turnaround and book their place in the playoffs.

They have relied heavily on the consistency of Aditya Javvaji, who finished the league stage with 286 runs, while experienced spinner Aryan Cariappa has led the bowling attack with 11 wickets, including a match-winning four-wicket haul.

EIPL & Eleve Karimnagar Diamonds, meanwhile, have enjoyed a campaign built on consistency and balance despite losing their first two matches. Tanmay Agarwal has been their standout performer, piling up 328 runs, including two centuries, while Chandan Sahani has added valuable runs in the middle order. Their bowling attack has been equally impressive, with Rathlavath Dinesh claiming nine wickets, while district star Narayana Teja and Shubham Sharma have chipped in with eight wickets each to provide excellent support.

Qualifier 1: Hyderabad E-Champions have been the benchmark side of the tournament as the only unbeaten team through the league stage. Their success has been built on collective performances, with Abhirath Reddy enjoying a phenomenal campaign, scoring 418 runs at a staggering strike rate of 220, including a century. District player Ganesh Gadugu has been the perfect foil, contributing 224 runs while finishing unbeaten on three occasions.

With the ball, Ajay Dev Goud has been the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 16 wickets, while Pranav Varma has provided excellent support with nine wickets at an economy of just 6.8 runs per over.

Standing in their way are Anvita Khammam Aces, one of the most explosive batting sides in the tournament. Kodimela Himateja has led the run charts with 430 runs, including a century and four fifties, averaging an outstanding 107.5. Wafi Kachchhi and G Sai Krishna Reddy have consistently provided attacking starts throughout the league stage, making the Aces one of the most dangerous batting units in the competition.

Their bowling has been equally effective, with 16-year-old Ved Reddy emerging as the tournament’s second-highest wicket-taker with 12 scalps, while skipper CV Milind has made an impact with nine wickets in just five matches.
