Hyderabad: The Government Railway Police, along with the EAGLE team, busted a ganja smuggling racket at Secunderabad railway station and arrested two men and a 17-year-old juvenile on Sunday.
Officials also seized 41.131 kg of marijuana worth Rs 20.5 lakh, which was concealed in a trolley suitcase and backpacks.
The arrested suspects are Mahesh Dilip Wandhare, a catering worker and Kartik Chandrakant Ambe, a tattoo artist, both from Nagpur. The juvenile was also nabbed and dealt with under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.
According to the police, the contraband was allegedly being transported from Balangir in Odisha to Nagpur in Maharashtra via Hyderabad route. The trio was recruited by an Odisha-based supplier, Sanju Sahu, who allegedly paid Rs 5,000 per trip to transport marijuana.
The trio had arrived at Charlapalli by the Nagavali Express before proceeding to Secunderabad, where they planned to board the Dakshin Express to Nagpur.
Following a tip-off, they were nabbed at the railway station premises, and the narcotic substance was seized.
The case is under investigation.
