Telangana ACB arrests DSP Sankireddy Bheem Reddy in disproportionate assets case

Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sankireddy Bheem Reddy in connection with a disproportionate assets case following the completion of searches at multiple locations linked to him.

Bheem Reddy, who is serving in the Police Computer Services (PCS), Hyderabad, was taken into custody from his residence at Vessella Meadows in Ibrahimbagh. He will be produced before the designated ACB court.

The arrest came after the ACB concluded coordinated searches at 16 locations, including the officer’s residence and properties linked to his relatives, friends, alleged benamidars and associates in Telangana and Karnataka.

During the raids, ACB sleuths uncovered documents relating to a large number of assets allegedly acquired by the officer. These include a villa in Vessella Meadows, a G+2 residential building with a penthouse and a flat in Telecom Nagar, another flat in Gachibowli, two flats in Tellapur, open plots at Nagole, Patancheru and Pragathi Resorts, commercial properties in Manikonda, agricultural lands in Sangareddy, Vikarabad and Karnataka, besides an investment of Rs. 75 lakh in a rock sand mining company.

Officials also recovered cash amounting to Rs. 3.6 lakh from the DSP’s residence and another Rs. 40 lakh from the residence of an alleged benamidar. The searches further led to the seizure of around 2 kg of gold ornaments, about 20 kg of silver articles and bank deposits totalling nearly Rs. 19.91 lakh.

According to the ACB, the market value of the immovable properties is expected to be substantially higher than their registered value.
