Escape the city: Ramakanth’s Ranch offers Hyderabadis a countryside retreat with horses, nature and farm experiences

Hyderabad: Imagine swapping honking traffic and concrete skylines for the sound of horses trotting through open fields, sipping chai by a pond and walking among horses, miniature cows and sprawling farmlands. Just outside Hyderabad, a 29-acre ranch is giving city dwellers a chance to slow down and embrace a slice of countryside life.

Located in Kethireddypally, Ramakanth’s Ranch has evolved from a private stud farm into a countryside retreat where families, couples, children and nature lovers can reconnect with the outdoors without travelling far from the city.

Originally established nearly a decade ago by Ramakanth Reddy as a private stable to pursue his lifelong passion for horse riding, the ranch was home exclusively to his prized horses. However, after his legal career took him to Delhi to practise law, his wife, Anita Reddy, transformed the property into a visitor destination while preserving its rustic charm.

“While this was just a farm, the owner used to come here with friends. Then their friends brought their own circles, and that’s how the place gradually expanded,” said Anushka Toshniwal, marketing lead at the property.

The experience goes far beyond horse riding. Home to 11 horses, many of which have won horse shows across India, the ranch also houses the world’s smallest cows, along with ducks and other farm animals.

Visitors can explore natural ponds, stroll through open farmlands, enjoy scenic countryside views, hop on jeep trails, vintage car and tractor rides, and, during the season, pick fresh mangoes and jamuns from the trees. The surrounding landscape is also frequented by peacocks and other native birds, making it an ideal setting for those looking to spend a relaxed day outdoors.

“It’s like a ranch farm area where you can come relax. It’s not a resort-type place, it’s more of a weekend getaway where you can enjoy horse riding, jeep rides and a local countryside experience rather than a very elevated one. You can walk through streams, spend time near the ponds and enjoy the ecosystem within the farm,” Anushka explained.

Apart from day visits, the ranch regularly hosts curated wellness experiences, corporate outings, birthday celebrations, educational visits, family gatherings and private events. It has also previously hosted experiences such as a Bridgerton Tea Party and Puppy Yoga.

“There has been a lot of demand, with many people asking us to open on weekdays too, so we’ll now be available all seven days. There is no age limit. We have also hosted a Bridgerton Tea Party, Puppy Yoga, and will now be hosting Tea Time with Horses this July,” Anushka added.

Visitors can experience the ranch for ₹2,000 per person through three-hour sessions held from 7 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 7 pm. The package includes all the activities, breakfast or evening snacks, and tea by the pond, offering Hyderabadis an opportunity to unwind in nature without venturing too far from the city.
