Hyderabad: With a month to go for the annual Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu celebrations, the Hyderabad Traffic Police have intensified preparations by reviewing traffic management plans around the temple and launching road safety initiatives across the city.

Senior traffic officials conducted a field inspection at the Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Temple and surrounding areas in Secunderabad on Saturday.

The team assessed traffic diversion points, parking arrangements, barricading, pedestrian movement plans and emergency access routes to ensure smooth vehicular movement and effective crowd management during the festival scheduled for August 2.

Officials instructed field personnel to complete all traffic and bandobast arrangements well in advance.

The Traffic Police also appealed to devotees and commuters to follow notified diversions, park only in designated areas and cooperate with police personnel during the festivities.

In another incident reflecting the department’s prompt response, Punjagutta Traffic Police rescued a peacock that had come under a vehicle while crossing the road at Greenlands X Roads in the morning. The bird was provided initial care and later handed it over to the Forest Department at Aranya Bhavan in Saifabad for further treatment.
