Hyderabad: Two people, including an intermediate student, lost their lives in separate road accidents involving buses in the city and suburbs on Wednesday.

In Kukatpally, a 50-year-old woman was killed after a private college bus allegedly collided with her scooter near the Kukatpally Police Station. The victim, identified as Lakshmi, a resident of Moosapet, was employed at a hotel in Ameenpur and was travelling to work when the accident took place.

According to the police, the impact threw her onto the road, following which the bus reportedly ran over her. She suffered grievous injuries and died at the spot before emergency services could reach her.

The Kukatpally police, who are investigating, are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to determine the sequence of events.

In a separate incident at Shabad Crossroads near Chevella, an intermediate student named Satvik Reddy was fatally struck by a TGSRTC bus while waiting for his college transport on the roadside.

Police said the incident occurred when the bus driver was attempting to move away from hitting a car ahead and went on to mow down Satvik. The teenager suffered grievous injuries and was declared dead at the hospital.

The Chevella Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident.

The two fatal crashes, reported within hours of each other, have once again raised concerns over road safety and the need for greater caution by motorists, commuters, and pedestrians.
