Hyderabad: Former India batter Wasim Jaffer has been appointed mentor of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) for a term of two years.
The 48-year-old Mumbai cricketer represented India in 31 Tests, scoring 1,944 runs with five centuries and 11 half-centuries. He also has an impressive first-class record of 19,410 runs from 260 matches, including 57 centuries and 91 half-centuries.
The significant appointment comes months after former India cricketer and local hero Ambati Rayudu was named Head of Cricket Operations at HCA. Rayudu has already made his mark in the organisation of several leagues and tournaments, with an emphasis on transparency.
Interestingly, when Telangana Today contacted a senior member of the HCA Apex Council, the official said they were unaware of the decision and came to know of it only later.
