Retired Army officer and civic activist Major Shiva Kiran passed away after a prolonged illness in Hyderabad. Founder of Sukuki Exnora and the Geo Map Society, he was widely recognised for promoting waste management, supporting ragpickers and improving civic infrastructure across the city.

Hyderabad: Major Shiva Kiran, 61, a retired army officer, who was known for his active efforts in improvement of civic conditions in the city, died due to illness on Thursday at around 10.10 pm in a private hospital in Kondapur,
He was undergoing treatment following a complaint of a pancreas-linked tumour operation.
Maj Shiva Kiran was receiving treatment after the operation was done twice on the same pancreas. Suddenly, his health deteriorated, and he passed away in the hospital. He is survived by his family with two daughters at Kundan Bagh (Begumpet).
He was the founder of Sukuki Exnora, which is an NGO run by him to lift garbage since the erstwhile MCH. He was also the founder of the Geo Map Society.
He focused on the welfare of ragpickers and successfully established 50 decentralised Zero Waste Projects across Hyderabad city. He created a Swachh Auto Trolley network consisting of 4,500 trolleys serving across the GHMC
The funeral will be held at Mahaprasthanam Jubilee Hills on Friday at 3 pm.
