Hanamkonda: Former MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar demanded a CBI or governmental inquiry into auctioning of commercial plots by Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) in Hanamkonda.
Speaking to the media here on Friday he stated that corruption has become rampant as officials were being pressured by the ruling party leaders to act according to their interests in the auction of plots.
Referring to an open auction held recently by KUDA for plots at Balasamudram and Ambedkar Bhavan he said the officials were instructed to ensure specific prices were fixed and to prevent bids from exceeding predetermined limits.
Out of 30 participants, only 10 actually placed bids in the auction. The land was auctioned for just Rs 66,000 per square yard, whereas the open market rate was Rs 1, 50,000 per square yard, Vinay Bhaskar alleged.
He pointed out that while the rest of the world has moved to online processes, the KUDA auction was conducted offline; asserting that corruption marred the proceedings, he demanded that the auction be cancelled and re-conducted.
The BRS leader advised the government to focus on development during the remaining two and a half years of their term, rather than resorting to filing cases, conducting raids, carrying out demolitions or issuing threats against opposition parties.
Vinay Bhaskar alleged that the ruling party leaders were undermining the WALTA Act and disregarding the Wildlife Protection Act. A tank located on the Yadavnagar-Reddipuram route was being filled in with soil against the rules.
