Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao lauded senior party leader Abdul Muqeet Chanda for donating Rs 50 lakh towards the education of orphaned and meritorious students under the initiative “Gift A Smile”.
Chanda and his family chose to avoid lavish wedding expenditure for their elder son’s wedding and committed the savings to support students from economically weaker sections.
Appreciating the gesture, Rama Rao said Chanda had set an example by transforming a personal family celebration into an opportunity to support the education of underprivileged students. He stated that while weddings often involve significant expenditure, investing those resources in education reflects a strong sense of social responsibility among the family.
Stating that education remains one of the most effective tools for empowerment and social transformation, he said initiatives such as “Gift A Smile” not only provide financial assistance but also offer hope and encouragement to families struggling to educate their children. He hoped that more families would draw inspiration from such efforts and contribute towards educational causes during important personal occasions.
