Vijayawada: A local court on Wednesday remanded the police inspector accused of “torturing” a youngster to death in custody to 14 days of judicial remand, an official said.
Suspended Krishna Lanka inspector SSVV Naga Raju (53) is accused of thrashing Gade Sai Krishna (25) to death and then clandestinely cremating his body without the knowledge of his family members.
“Naga Raju has been produced before a local court here (Vijayawada), which remanded him for 14 days,” the official told PTI.
According to the official, the suspended inspector is being shifted to Rajahmundry Central Jail.
