Hyderabad: There was an enthusiastic response to the Olympic Day Run, organised by the Telangana Olympic Association (TOA) in association with the Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG), in the city on Tuesday.

As part of the celebrations, Olympic Day Runs were conducted across all districts of Telangana from June 18 to 23, 2026, encouraging mass participation in sports and physical fitness.


On the final day, participants led by eminent sportspersons and athletes carrying the Olympic Torch started from nine locations across Hyderabad and converged at the Tennis Complex, LB Stadium.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 1,000 sportspersons, Olympians, students and sports enthusiasts.

Telangana Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari was the chief guest.

Among those who attended the event were Shiv Sena Reddy, Chairman of SATG; A.P. Jitender, Advisor to the State Government (Sports); S. Venugopala Chary, Telangana Olympic Association; and Ravinder, Deputy Director, SATG.

Mr Srihari emphasised the need for greater collective efforts to elevate Telangana and India to the highest levels of sporting excellence. He highlighted the importance of grassroots sports development, athlete support systems and creating a strong sporting culture among the youth.
