Mancherial traders protest demolition of shops for road‑widening

Mancherial: Shops located along a road in the main market were demolished as part of road-widening here on Tuesday.

Iron-roofed shops of small-time traders who sell sweaters, caps and travel bags were bulldozed as part of the widening project. The traders expressed anger over the move of civic officials.

They regretted that they had lost their livelihoods after their shops were bulldozed. The traders urged the officials to provide an alternative site to run their businesses.

On receiving information, former MLA Diwakar Rao visited the shops. He criticised the local MLA Premsagar Rao for throwing the lives of the traders out of gear. He stated that the expansion of the roads was being taken up by demolishing commercial establishments, affecting businesses. He said that the project had been under way for quite some time.
