Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at a furniture manufacturing unit near Vintage Function Hall in Gudimalkapur on Monday midnight, triggering panic in the area.
The flames quickly spread to two adjacent furniture workshops, causing significant damage to combustible materials stored inside the premises.
On receiving information, the Gudimalkapur police and fire department personnel rushed to the spot and took up firefighting operations with four fire engines.
After several hours of efforts which went up to Tuesday early hours, the blaze was brought under control, preventing it from spreading further to nearby structures.
The police and emergency teams secured the area and assisted in the rescue and firefighting operations.
Kulsumpura ACP Tirupathi visited the spot and supervised the relief measures. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an inquiry is on.
